A Letter to Discount Power From Freestore Foodbank
On behalf of all of us at the Freestore Foodbank, and especially for those we serve, thank you for you generous donation.
We are very gratified by your support and for your confidence in our ability to make a difference. Without you, we would never be able to serve the thousands
of children and adults throughout the tri-state who come to us each year for food, clothing, housing, and other basic survival services.
We're doing our best to make difficult and anxious lives less so, especially during this time of growing needs and shrinking resources. However, without your
help, none of what we do would be possible. Thank you again.
Sincerely, Jennifer Ebelhar Vice President of Development
Spring Offers New Hope for Electricity Savings
Discount Power Launches Rate Plans for Existing and New Customers
Historically, Discount Power, Inc. has offered rates lower than both of the public utilities in Connecticut - Connecticut Light and Power (CL&P) and
United Illuminating (UI). Due to the record high wholesale electricity prices in New England, Discount Power's rates recently increased. However, this
is a short term price impact and Discount Power is rolling out two new reduced rate plans for both existing and new customers.
CT residents can now choose from either the Discount Choice or Discount Select programs. Both plans start on the March meter read, so April will be the
first month invoiced at the new rate. The enrollment process only takes a matter of minutes. Conveniently, you will still be billed by your existing
provider, be it CL&P or UI, and the only difference will be that Discount Power will be your generation service provider at your new low rate.
'In these continued, tough economic times, we want to help customers manage their budgets. With these two, innovative programs, consumers can plan for
their electricity expenses for several months based upon their individual needs,' said Chief Marketing Officer Michael Ferreri.
Beyond the rate savings, Discount Power is offering additional incentives to new customers. First, new customers will receive a $100 Dining Certificate
after their first month of flow, plus Discount Power's new Referral Rewards Program allows existing customers to earn this benefit. Upon a friend's
successful enrollment, the referring customer will receive a $100 Dining Certificate as will the friend that enrolled. The friend will also be eligible to
refer their friends and earn more Dining Certificates.
Secondly, Discount Power offers a free comprehensive home energy audit conducted by Climate Partners. An energy audit is a room-by-room examination by an
energy auditor. The technician conducts services such as a blower door test and thermo graphic scan, then provides some quick fixes. Technicians seal
ductwork leaks, seal gaps around the pipes in the attic, basement and garage, and install low-flow showerheads and faucet aerators, plus energy-efficient
compact fluorescent bulbs throughout the house. A typical energy audit takes from two to four hours, depending on the size of the home. An audit can cost as
much as $300.
'We continually strive to provide Connecticut residents an affordable option for the electricity supplier portion of their monthly bill,' said
Ferreri. 'An energy audit helps to identify where a home is wasting energy. By addressing those issues, the consumer's costs will be reduced and we
all conserve valuable resources.'
Discount Power is a licensed retail electricity supplier that delivers low-cost electricity to customers in deregulated electrical energy markets. Anyone
in CT can use Discount Power as their electric supplier and the company is currently expanding its business into parts of Pennsylvania and Ohio. The
Shelton-based company is committed to maintaining competitive rates and consistent savings for all of their customers. Discount Power supplies residential,
commercial, industrial and municipal users with a comprehensive suite of electric energy alternatives and value-added services that maximize savings, lower
consumption and help protect the environment.
Thank You From HEARTH
A Letter to Discount Power From HEARTH
Wow! Did you make our day! Thanks to your generous donation, HEARTH is able to continue opening doors for families in crisis.
For the past two years HEARTH has experienced life much like the families that come through our doors. We as an agency were homeless with nowhere to go. We
were operating in transition and in two separate locations. Then it finally happened, in May, we moved into our new permanent home in Shaler Township. We
are now reunited under one roof and at our new location, and are able to go from serving 15 families to 20.
This dream never would have come to reality without the perserverance, hard work, and dedication of donors and volunteers like you. Your unwavering belief
in our mission has propelled us to fulfill a dream of independence and self-sufficiency. Our story is similar to one of our program participants, Anna, who
completed her degree this spring. She is now searching for full-time employment and permanent housing and soon she herself will be independent and
For all you have done and all that you continue to do to help HEARTH open doors for families in crisis, thank you!
Sincerely Yours, Judy Eakin Executive Director
Are You Paying Too Much for Your Power?
Journal News, 08/16/2013
Deciphering all of the data on your utility bill is about as easy as reading a letter written in hieroglyphics. Most people quickly move to the bottom of
the page to reveal their monthly bottom line in power expenses. The process of not knowing what or how you're charged makes it difficult to comparison
shop. However, electric supplier Discount Power is seeking to make purchasing power more consumer-friendly and cost effective.
Keep Your Cool This Summer Without Breaking the Bank
Middletown Journal, 07/08/2013
This summer has barely begun, yet the cycle of heat waves will no doubt continue and hit consumers hard with soaring energy costs. However, you can beat the
heat without breaking the bank. The energy experts at Discount Power, a low-cost electricity supplier now in Ohio, recommend addressing areas of inefficiency
in your home, as well as examining your electric bill. Ohio is a deregulated state, meaning consumers and businesses have the option to change electricity
suppliers to receive a lower rate.
